ASNC recently joined a coalition of 6 medical societies asking the Department of Commerce and the Trump Administration to exclude or defer tariffs on radiopharmaceuticals and medical isotopes until adequate domestic supplies are established.
In their letter to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, ASNC and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, American College of Cardiology (ACC), American College of Radiology, American Society for Radiation Oncology, and Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, urged the Administration to continue collaborating with stakeholders on efforts to strengthen domestic production capacity and to develop a national strategy for radiopharmaceutical supply chain security that includes contingency planning for future disruptions.
The coalition reiterated comments submitted by ASNC and the ACC in May, shortly after the Commerce Department requested input on its section 232 investigation aimed at determining the effects on national security of importing pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical ingredients.
