Mentor Biographies
Niti Aggarwal, MD, FASNC
Dr. Niti Aggarwal is a non-invasive cardiologist with experience providing care in both a world-renowned academic medical center and a community-based practice. Nationally recognized for her expertise and advocacy in cardiovascular disease in women, she has more than a decade of experience in women's heart health, preventive cardiology, cardio-rheumatology, and cardio-obstetrics.
Dr. Aggarwal serves on the ASNC Board of Directors, chairs the Membership Relations Committee, and is a member of the Publications Committee.
Dr. Aggarwal welcomes discussions on women's cardiovascular health, preventive cardiology, balancing academic and community-based practice, career development, and opportunities to become involved in ASNC leadership and service.
Mouaz H. All-Mallah, MD, MSc, MASNC
Dr. Mouaz Al-Mallah is Past President of ASNC. He serves as the Beverly B. and Daniel C. Arnold Distinguished Chair, Director of Cardiovascular PET, and Associate Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center, where he established the institution's cardiac PET program. He is also Professor of Cardiology at the Houston Methodist Academic Institute and Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. An internationally recognized expert in multimodality cardiovascular imaging, his clinical and research interests include cardiac PET, nuclear cardiology, CT, MRI, preventive cardiology, and cardiovascular imaging for cardiomyopathy, heart failure, and cardiac infections.
Dr. Al-Mallah has authored more than 600 scientific publications and book chapters and remains actively involved in ASNC through leadership on multiple committees and task forces. He welcomes discussions on cardiovascular imaging, clinical research, academic career development, building advanced imaging programs, and leadership within ASNC.

Timothy Bateman, MD, MASNC
Dr. Timothy Bateman is Co-Director of Cardiovascular Radiologic Imaging at Saint Luke's Mid America Heart Institute in Kansas City and Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri–Kansas City.
A past president of ASNC, Dr. Bateman is an internationally recognized leader in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. He has authored more than 600 scientific publications and is widely known for his contributions to advancing cardiac imaging and improving patient care. He also serves as a member of ASNC's Cardiovascular PET Committee and enjoys mentoring the next generation of cardiovascular imagers and researchers.

Daniel Berman, MD, MASNC
Dr. Daniel S. Berman is Director of Cardiology, Cardiac Imaging, and Nuclear Cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. A founding member and past leader of ASNC, he is internationally recognized as a pioneer in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. Since establishing the nuclear cardiology program at Cedars-Sinai in 1977, he has led one of the world's premier cardiovascular imaging research programs and helped advance the clinical application of noninvasive cardiac imaging over the past four decades.
Dr. Berman has authored more than 1,000 peer-reviewed scientific publications, including numerous landmark studies, and serves on the editorial boards of several leading cardiovascular journals. His contributions have helped shape the practice of nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging worldwide.

Roxana Campisi, MD, MASNC
Dr. Roxana Campisi is Chief of Nuclear Cardiology at the Instituto Argentino de Diagnóstico y Tratamiento (IADT) and Coordinator of Cardiovascular PET at Diagnóstico Nuclear and IADT in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology. An internationally recognized expert in nuclear cardiology, she has authored numerous scientific publications and is committed to advancing cardiovascular imaging through research, education, and international collaboration.
Dr. Campisi is an active leader within ASNC, serving on the ASNC Board of Directors and the International Steering Committee, and as International Vice Chair of the ASNC2026 Scientific Program.

Panithaya Chareonthaitawee, MD, MASNC
Dr. Panithaya Chareonthaitawee is Professor of Medicine and Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Mayo Clinic. She is the Immediate Past President of ASNC and serves as Deputy Editor of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology.
An internationally recognized leader in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, Dr. Chareonthaitawee specializes in the evaluation and management of coronary artery disease, coronary microvascular dysfunction, and cardiac sarcoidosis using advanced SPECT and PET imaging.
In addition to her clinical and research expertise, Dr. Chareonthaitawee is deeply committed to physician education and training, serving in leadership roles for residency, fellowship, and departmental education at Mayo Clinic.

Marcelo F. Di Carli, MD, MASNC
Dr. Marcelo F. Di Carli is the Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Imaging in the Heart and Vascular Institute at Mass General Brigham. He is the Steven E. Seltzer Professor of Radiology and Medicine at Harvard Medical School and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology.
An internationally recognized leader in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, Dr. Di Carli's clinical and research interests focus on advancing cardiovascular imaging to improve the diagnosis, risk assessment, and management of heart disease. Through his leadership of the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, he is committed to advancing scientific discovery, fostering innovation, and supporting the education and professional development of the cardiovascular imaging community.
Dr. Di Carli welcomes discussions on cardiovascular imaging, clinical and translational research, scientific publishing, academic career development, and leadership in nuclear cardiology.
Donna Polk, MD, MPH, MASNC
Dr. Donna M. Polk is a board-certified cardiologist with a passion for medical education, faculty development, and graduate medical education. Throughout her career, she has held faculty appointments at several academic medical centers and currently serves as a Field Representative with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), where she helps ensure excellence in residency and fellowship training programs nationwide.
Dr. Polk co-developed ASNC's Nuclear Cardiology Board Exam Prep Course, which has helped cardiologists, radiologists, and nuclear medicine physicians prepare for the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC) examination and stay current on board-focused knowledge in nuclear cardiology for more than two decades. She also completed a six-year term on the ACGME Review Committee for Internal Medicine and served as a member of the Internal Medicine 2035 Writing Group, helping shape the future of physician training.
Dr. Polk welcomes discussions on medical education, faculty development, fellowship training, academic career advancement, board examination preparation, and leadership in graduate medical education.
Rupa Sanghani, MD, FASNC
Dr. Rupa Sanghani is the Grace DeForest and William Louis Veeck Endowed Professor of Cardiovascular Research, Professor of Medicine, Interim Chief of Cardiology, and Director of Nuclear Cardiology at Rush University Medical Center. She also serves as Director of the Rush Heart Center for Women, where she specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of cardiovascular disease in women, with a particular interest in pregnancy-related heart disease and cardio-obstetrics.
Dr. Sanghani is Treasurer of ASNC and Chair of the Cardiovascular PET Committee. A nationally recognized leader in nuclear cardiology, she established Illinois' first cardiac PET program and has been instrumental in advancing PET program development and implementation. Her clinical and research interests focus on improving cardiovascular outcomes in women through advanced cardiac imaging, prevention, and education.

Prem Soman, MD, PhD, MASNC
Dr. Prem Soman is the Richard S. Caligiuri Endowed Chair in Amyloidosis and Heart Failure, Professor of Medicine, and Associate Chief of Cardiology for Faculty Development at the University of Pittsburgh. He also serves as Director of Nuclear Cardiology, the Cardiac Imaging Fellowship, and the Cardiac Amyloidosis Center at UPMC.
A past president of ASNC and former Chair of the American College of Cardiology's Imaging Council, Dr. Soman is an internationally recognized leader in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging. His clinical practice and research focus on cardiac amyloidosis, heart failure, and the use of radionuclide imaging for the diagnosis, risk stratification, and management of cardiovascular disease. As founder of UPMC's Cardiac Amyloidosis Center, he has helped build one of the nation's leading programs for clinical care and research in amyloidosis.

Randall Thompson, MD, MASNC
Dr. Randall C. Thompson is an attending cardiologist with Saint Luke's Cardiovascular Consultants and Professor of Medicine at the University of Missouri–Kansas City. A past president of ASNC, he is a nationally recognized leader in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular imaging, with expertise in nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT, and vascular CT.
Dr. Thompson has contributed to advancing myocardial perfusion imaging through clinical research, education, and professional society leadership. He recently served as Chair of the ACC Coding Work Group and as Cardiology Advisor to the AMA CPT Editorial Panel. He remains actively involved in ASNC as a member of the Health Policy Committee and the AI/Machine Learning Task Force.

Kim A. Williams, Sr., MD, MASNC
Dr. Kim A. Williams, Sr. is Professor of Medicine, Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of Louisville, and the Legacy Foundation of Kentuckiana Endowed Chair in Health Equity. A nationally recognized leader in cardiovascular medicine, he specializes in preventive cardiology, cardio-nutrition, cardio-rheumatology, cardio-nephrology, cardiovascular imaging, and advancing health equity.
Dr. Williams is a past president of both the American College of Cardiology and ASNC, and a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association of Black Cardiologists. Throughout his career, he has been a passionate advocate for evidence-based cardiovascular prevention, physician leadership, and improving cardiovascular health for diverse patient populations.
