In a video interview with Cardiovascular Business, ASNC-Elect President Andrew J. Einstein, MD, PhD, MASNC, shared his vision for the future, where advances emerging now will help nuclear cardiology deliver the best possible care for patients and improve clinical outcomes.

“At ASNC, we want to make sure that people have the best resources available to provide the highest-quality nuclear cardiology care to their patients … . We also want to make sure that the complementary information from different imaging modalities is brought to bear to ensure that patients have the best possible care,” Dr. Einstein says. “It’s all about the patient.”

Dr. Einstein points to an exciting pipeline of new radiopharmaceuticals for both PET and SPECT. He predicts that at least one new radiopharmaceutical could be approved for nuclear cardiology use in 2027. More broadly, he envisions a diverse range of tests targeted to specific patient populations, enabling nuclear cardiology to answer important clinical questions that will improve patient outcomes.

“The promise is great for nuclear cardiology,” Dr. Einstein says. He will become president of ASNC on Jan. 1, 2027.
