ASNC Submits Comments to Energy & Commerce Regarding Hospital Acquisition of Physician Practices

ASNC submitted a letter to the Energy & Commerce Committee regarding §603 of the Bipartisan Budget Act (BBA) of 2015.
§603 establishes that provider-based facilities acquired by a hospital after enactment of the BBA are prohibited from billing Medicare at hospital outpatient department rates if they do not operate on the hospital's main campus. ASNC opposes “site-neutral” payment policies and maintains that physicians' offices moved to partner with hospitals in this manner after years of provider cuts resulted in rates that were unstainable for many practices. ASNC urges the E&C Committee to consider drivers of provider consolidation and support policies that offer payment adequacy by site of service.  Read ASNC's letter to the Energy & Finance Committee.
