China's Largest Nuclear Cardiology Conference Draws 1,000+ Attendees

More than 1,000 attendees gathered for the 17th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Society of Nuclear Cardiology (CSNC), held this summer in Harbin City, China. Nuclear medicine physicians, cardiologists, technologists, nurses, radio-chemists, scientists, medical physicists and professionals from related fields traveled from throughout China, Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong to participate in four days of sessions aimed at advancing nuclear cardiology practice and research. 
 

World Congress of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Health Empowers Attendees to Tackle Global Cardiovascular Health Crisis

The World of Cardiovascular Imaging Comes Together in Cuba

The VII Iberoamerican Congress of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging, held April 14-16, 2016, in Havana, provided an important opportunity for physicians and other healthcare providers to learn about new advances in Nuclear Cardiology and in cardiac imaging. Organized in cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and supported by ASNC and other cardiology societies, the Congress was organized by Conference Chair Amalia Peix, MD, PhD, and members of the Organizing, Program and Scientific Committees: Erick Alexanderson, MD, FASNC, Daniel Berman, MD, MASNC, Ernest V. Garcia, MD, PhD, MASNC, Teresa Massardo, MD, Fernando Mut, MD, Diana Paez, MD, and Leslee Shaw, MD, PhD, MASNC.

ASNC in Asia

In May, the Chinese Society of Nuclear Medicine (CSNM) held its annual meeting in Xi'an, China, with more than 1,000 attendees from China and across Asia. The meeting was also a celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Nuclear Medicine in China, which originated in Xi'an. ASNC President Brian G. Abbott, MD, FASNC, was invited faculty and presented a lecture titled, “Nuclear Cardiology: Applications in Clinical Practice,” highlighting myocardial perfusion imaging for risk stratification, the role of I-123 MIBG imaging in heart failure as well as applications of PET imaging for coronary artery disease, amyloidosis and sarcoidosis.
 

ASNC Participates in VII Iberoamerican Conference of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging

In April, more than 250 physicians—many of them ASNC members—traveled to Havana, Cuba, to participate in the VII Iberoamerican Conference of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging. The attendees, who hailed from 17 countries, were welcomed by ASNC President Brian Abbott, MD, FASNC, who joined Conference Organizing Committee President Amalia Peix, MD, and International Atomic Energy Agency representative Maurizio Dondi, MD, in the opening ceremonies. Marcelo DiCarli, MD, presented the keynote address, “Nuclear Cardiology Facing Emergent Imaging Modalities.”

Nuclear Cardiology in Practice 2016

The training course, “Nuclear Cardiology in Practice 2016” taught by Dr. Richard Underwood and Dr. Eliana Reyes will be held at the Royal Brompton, Harefield and Royal Marsden Hospitals May 23-27, 2016.  This course is suitable for all professionals interested in cardiac imaging, qualifying for basic specialist training and providing advanced skills for those already in practice.
