Future Leaders: The Next Generation of Nuclear Cardiology

Join ASNC on Sept. 16 in Las Vegas for the Future Leaders Program, a dynamic, mentorship-driven experience connecting trainees and early career cardiovascular imagers with leaders in nuclear cardiology.
Led by Program Chairs Sanjay Divakaran, MD, MPH, FASNC, and Donna Polk, MD, MPH, MASNC, the program is designed to provide practical insights into career development, mentorship, and professional opportunities within the field through large- and small-group discussions.
New for 2026:
ASNC has adapted this innovative early-career program with two tailored tracks designed to support participants at every stage:
- Foundational Track: For medical students, residents, and fellows in years 1–2, focused on early career exploration
- Advanced Track: For senior fellows and advanced imaging trainees, focused on career decision-making and leadership development

Application Details
- Application period: April 13 – May 15
- All selected participants will receive a $250 travel award to support attendance in Las Vegas.

- Cardiology fellows (in training year 1 or 2)
- Advanced imaging trainees
- Previous Future Leaders Participants (for the Advanced Track)
- Applicants must be ASNC members to participate in the Future Leaders Program.

Participants will divide into their assigned tracks (Foundational and Advanced) and take part in interactive small-group discussions, rotating through two breakout sessions with different faculty and topics.
Track 1: Foundational Training
(Medical Students, Residents, 1st & 2nd Year Fellows)
- Identify potential career pathways in cardiovascular imaging
- Establish mentorship connections with leaders in the field
- Develop a foundational understanding of nuclear cardiology opportunities
Track 2: Advanced Training
(3rd Year Fellows & Advanced Imaging Trainees)
- Evaluate key factors when selecting your first position
- Develop strategies for building and leading a lab
- Strengthen your approach to career advancement and leadership
- Note: Previous Future Leaders participants are encouraged to apply and may participate in the Advanced Track if eligible.
