ASNC Priority: Managing Conflicts of Interest

ASNC earned the highest commendation from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education in 2017 for demonstrating compliance with all aspects of requirements for quality continuing medical education. ASNC's achievement reflects, in part, its success in identifying and resolving conflicts of interest (COIs) prior to delivering educational offerings.
“ASNC is committed to the very highest ethical standards to ensure that the content of all ASNC-certified activities is objective and free of commercial bias,” explains ASNC 2018 President Prem Soman, MD, PhD, FASNC. “ASNC has always taken a stringent approach to ensure responsible, transparent relationships with industry and other relevant entities. It is ASNC's obligation to members. We recognize that our credibility depends on it.”

How ASNC Monitors and Manages COI
All individuals working on ASNC's behalf are required to disclose any relevant financial relationships that they and/or their immediate family members have with any commercial interest that produces health care goods or services consumed by or used on patients, including computer software, related to the content of an ASNC educational presentation, clinical document or committee activity. ASNC collects this information from planners, course directors and editors, faculty authors, peer reviewers, committee members and all others who will influence ASNC product content.

“Our members may be assured that ASNC is vigilant in guarding against actual and potential conflicts of interest through a proactive COI management plan designed to uphold the integrity of ASNC's operations,” says Dr. Soman.

If you recently agreed to participate in an ASNC project, presentation or committee, submit a disclosure form at portal.asnc.org as soon as possible. For more information, contact info@asnc.org.
