Journal of Nuclear Cardiology Editor-in-Chief Marcelo F. Di Carli, MD, MASNC, spoke with Cardiovascular Business about the enthusiasm around cardiac PET at ASNC2025. Watch now.
In a new interview with Cardiovascular Business, Marcelo F. Di Carli, MD, MASNC, described how cardiac PET has already changed practice and is poised to “invigorate” nuclear cardiology by “allowing us to understand coronary artery disease in new ways.”
Dr. Di Carli pointed to U.S. and European guidelines that “are explicitly saying, ‘If you have a patient with coronary disease and there is a change in symptoms and PET is available, you should use that instead of other techniques.'”
New evidence, such as the recently published CENTURY Trial, is also increasingly supporting quantitative cardiac PET, Dr. Di Carli added.
This interview is one of several published by Cardiovascular Business Digital Editor Dave Fornell in the days leading up to and follow ASNC’s 30th Annual Scientific Session and Exhibition.

Jamieson M. Bourque, MD, MHS, FASNC, talked with Cardiovascular Business about priorities for his upcoming term as ASNC president. Watch the interview.
Jamieson M. Bourque, MD, MHS, FASNC, shared key points from his ASNC2025 President-Elect Address, including the Society’s plans around artificial intelligence, new applications for nuclear cardiology, and supporting the growth of cardiac PET. Now, Dr. Bourque told ASNC2025 attendees, “is an exciting time in nuclear cardiology” because of the advances that are gaining traction across the field. While the tools and opportunities needed to maintain nuclear cardiology’s importance are available, Dr. Bourque explained, the key to driving those advances forward will be “innovating together.”

In 2 video interviews, ASNC2025 Program Chair Wael A. Jaber, MD, FASNC, shared highlights of ASNC2025 and trends that are impacting nuclear cardiology. Watch both interviews here.
ASNC2025 Program Chair Wael A. Jaber, MD, FASNC, also fielded interviews with Cardiovascular Business. The first interview focused on nuclear cardiology’s growth and how new indications, technologies, and radiotracers are inspiring a new generation of cardiac imagers. Dr. Jaber’s second interview addressed the expanding role of multimodality cardiac imaging and the addition of Heart Team sessions to the ASNC annual meeting program.

Prem Soman, MD, PhD, MASNC, received a standing ovation for his Mario Verani Lecture titled “Cardiac Amyloidosis: Transforming Patient Care with Nuclear Cardiology.” Watch his Cardiovascular Business interview.
ASNC2025 Mario Verani Memorial Lecturer Prem Soman, MD, PhD, MASNC, spoke with Cardiovascular Business about advances in cardiac amyloid screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
In a separate interview for ASNC’s latest Imaging Insights newsletter, Dr. Soman shared practical strategies that cardiac imagers can adopt to accelerate early detection of ATTR-CM in their communities. The newsletter also includes articles on the increasing longevity of patients with ATTR-CM and emerging pan-amyloid tracers with potential to transform diagnosis, prognosis, and disease monitoring.
