In the lead-up to ASNC2025, Prem Soman, MD, PhD, MASNC, sat down with Cardiovascular Business for a conversation about cardiac amyloidosis.
Dr. Soman will deliver the meeting’s Mario Verani Memorial Lecture, titled Cardiac Amyloidosis: Transforming Patient Care with Nuclear Cardiology, during the opening plenary session on Friday, Sept. 5. The session will begin at 8:30 AM (Eastern Time) in the Palms I ballroom. Virtual attendees may watch via the ASNC2025 Meeting App.
‘Extraordinary Lessons to Be Learned’
Dr. Soman’s Verani Lecture will highlight the “truly breathtaking developments unfolding in the field of TTR amyloidosis” as well as the “extraordinary lessons to be learned” from the rapid advancements in screening, diagnosing, and treating the condition. These developments, he says, “inform us as a specialty” and offer “unparalleled opportunities” for physicians, scientists, and technologists.

Mario S. Verani, MD
ASNC’s Mario Verani Memorial Lecture is delivered annually by an expert with qualities exemplified by the late Dr. Mario S. Verani, a founding member of ASNC known for his seminal contributions to nuclear cardiology, excellence as a teacher and a clinician, and for being a caring physician.
This year’s lecture promises to be especially poignant, as ASNC2025 is the 30th anniversary of the Annual Scientific Session. Writing in the Nov/Dec 1996 Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, Dr. Verani, who was ASNC’s president at the first Annual Scientific Session, marveled at the “high degree of motivation and focus” displayed by the nearly 800 physicians who traveled from around the world to participate.
