The ASNC Advocacy Team provided an in-depth review of proposed 2026 Medicare payment changes and shared insight into how these updates may impact your practice, while also addressing participant questions.

During the webinar, the ASNC team reviewed nuclear cardiology services facing payment reductions, including stress testing and PYP imaging codes. The discussion also covered services with stable payment rates for 2026, as well as policy changes that may affect future reimbursement in both the physician office and hospital outpatient department settings.

Moderated by Health Policy Committee Chair Friederike Keating, MD, FASNC, the one-hour webinar featured ASNC Director of Regulatory Affairs Georgia Lawrence, JD; Timothy Bateman, MD, MASNC, of Saint Luke’s Mid America Heart Institute; and health policy consultant Camille Bonta, MPH, who explained –

  • How SPECT, PET, PET/CT, PYP/amyloid imaging, and stress testing payment rates were – or were not – affected by CMS’s updated data and payment methodologies;
  • How seemingly small shifts in CMS’s ambulatory payment classifications (APCs) can lead to big changes in hospital outpatient department reimbursement; and
  • Steps nuclear cardiology professionals can take to ensure CMS has complete data to inform its decisions.

Plus, the webinar introduced a valuable new tool for combatting prior authorization challenges!
