Women and Heart Disease
While heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the US among both men and women, significantly less attention has traditionally been devoted to screening, diagnosis, and management in women compared with men. This Web site provides some succinct information regarding the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of heart disease in women, with particular attention to coronary artery disease (the terms "coronary artery disease" and "coronary heart disease" are often used interchangeably).
As you will see, a significant gap still remains between how heart disease is addressed in women compared with men. Our goal in creating this Web site is to help close that gap and raise the level of cardiovascular care for women.
We hope you find the contents of this Web site informative and useful to you in the management of your female patients in daily practice. |
