ASNC Contacts Congressional Leadership About Health Care Reform
January 21, 2010
Today, ASNC sent a letter to House and Senate leadership expressing concerns with several key issues raised during discussions about Medicare and health care reform.
- ASNC opposes provisions that raise the equipment utilization rate for diagnostic services. The House and Senate health care reform bills raise equipment utilization rates, resulting in reductions in payment for imaging services.
- ASNC asked Congressional leadership to find a permanent solution to the flawed sustainable growth rate (SGR) formula utilized in calculating Medicare physician payments. Currently, neither health care reform addresses this important issue.
- ASNC voiced opposition to the creation of an Independent Payment Advisory Board outlined in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590).
