ASNC Submits Comments on Medicare Physician Fee Schedule

In August 2007, ASNC submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) regarding the agency's proposed regulations for the 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS).
Specifically, ASNC strenuously opposed CMS's proposed 9.9 percent reduction in the conversion factor used to calculate phyisician payment. In addition, ASNC provided input to CMS regarding the agency's proposals for clarifying the physician self-referral laws (known as Stark) and changes to practice expense assumptions regarding equipment utilization and interest rates.
