ASNC President Testifies on Cardiac CT Pricing

This month, ASNC President Gregory Thomas, MD, MPH, testified before the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Service's (CMS) Advisory Panel on Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC) Groups. During his testimony, Dr. Thomas urged the panel to move the new category III cardiac computed tomography (CT) codes from their current nuclear cardiology-based APCs to more appropriate new technology APCs, which would better reflect the emerging technology nature of the cardiac CT codes. Following Dr. Thomas's presentation, the advisory panel recommended that CMS continue to work with stakeholder groups to establish appropriate APC assignments for the new cardiac CT codes.
