Heredity

A positive family history of premature heart disease is considered a cardiac risk factor for both men and women. A patient is considered to be at increased risk if he or she has a male first-degree blood relative who had CHD before age 55 or a female first-degree blood relative who had CHD before age 65. Race also appears to play a role in hereditary CHD risk.
