Not Recommended

Hormone Therapy
Combined estrogen/progestin or other types of hormone therapy should not be initiated or continued to prevent cardiovascular disease in postmenopausal women.54 Recent trials have not supported the belief that hormone therapy has cardioprotective qualities, and hormone therapy uses may have a higher risk for cardiac and cerebral events.60 Hormone therapy has also been associated with increased breast cancer risk. Therefore, the use of long-term hormone therapy is no longer clinically justifiable.60

Antioxidant Supplements
Antioxidant supplements are not currently recommended for prevention of cardiovascular disease.54

Aspirin in Low-Risk Women
The routine use of aspirin in low-risk women is currently not recommended.54
