ASNC Participates in Development of Model LCD for CT and CTCA

The Society joined with several medical organizations to develop a Model Local Coverage Determination for Computed Tomography (CT) and CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA). Drs. Manuel Cerqueira and Roger Des Prez helped create the coverage determination, which is intended for use by local Medicare carriers. The document sets standards of care for CT and CTCA procedures and provides rationale for Medicare coverage of these procedures given specific indications. The document and other coverage guidelines, such as the March 2005 ASNC/ACC model LCD on SPECT MPI are available on the Health Policy section of www.asnc.org.
