Statement of Need and Target Audience
This course is designed for nurses, advanced practice nurses, and technologists who are practicing or are interested in practicing nuclear cardiology in a hospital or office-based setting. Expert panelists will give an overview of the methods and techniques that may be used to optimize image quality and overall efficiency of the nuclear cardiology laboratory. Objectives
The primary objectives of the Nuclear Cardiology for Nurses and Nurse Practitioners are to enable participants to:
- Recognize the benefits of myocardial viability FDG PET imaging
- Learn how to perform a myocardial viability FDG PET imaging study
- Explain the ICANL lab accreditation process and how it can improve quality of imaging
- Discuss the role, management, and best patient population for MPI studies
- Identify appropriate use criteria for nuclear cardiology
- Discuss the impact of reimbursement
- Discuss new pharmacologic stress agents
- Discuss women and heart disease in detail
- Identify arrhythmias and analyze hemodymic changes
Accreditation and Continuing Education Credit
This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the PA State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This educational activity has been approved for 7.5 contact hours by the PA State Nurses Association.
The American Society of Nuclear Cardiology is a recognized provider of continuing education credit for technologists. ASNC’s Continuing Education (ACE) credit is accepted by both NMTCB and ARRT. This course has been approved for 7 ASNC Continuing Education (ACE) credits for technologists.
Participants must complete the program in full, successfully pass a post-test with a score of 75% accuracy or better, and submit a completed evaluation form to ASNC in order to receive credits. CE certificates will be e-mailed to participants. Users may only receive one CE or ACE credit certificate for this course. Please note: Attendees of the live program in Philadelphia are not eligible for continuing education credits for this Meeting on Demand.
